What is the common misconception of Ayurveda?
The main misconception is that Ayurveda treatment takes long time to be effective. This means the result is not immediate. Also many are doubtful about the herbs used for preparing the medicines such as kashayam, gulika and oil.
What are the challenges faced when teaching people who are new to Ayurveda?
The initial difficulty is to convince them for the intake of medicines and use of oil. Many people did not like the smell, taste and color of the medicines. The way of treatment, massages initially people may not like. But after 2, 3 days when they feel the spirit of it via relaxation, sleep and the general well being they understand the benefit. Also the Ayurveda diet without meat or fish to be followed is another challenge. Staying long period for the treatment some are reluctant.
What advice do you have for prospective students who would like to take up Ayurveda and yoga?
Alternative medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, naturopathy are getting stronger nowadays in the western countries. The scope of job opportunity is huge in this sector.
Where is your favorite spot in the resort that inspires you?
My favorite spot in the resort is the beautiful garden amidst the palm trees on the Arabian coast. That gives me the positive energy when I walk along the garden, I can hear the sound of waves, the sea breeze, the smell of herbs and whole blend of nature, I feel the real spirit of Ayurveda here. No words to express this feel.

Of course, the backwaters of Kerala(Kumarakom and Alleppey) and the houseboat with fresh fish from the river.
